Responsibilities

  • Issue onsite wastewater treatment permits (septic system permits)
  • Issue private well water construction permits
  • Inspect septic system sites and well sites
  • Administer State of Iowa Grants-to-Counties funds
    • Water testing
    • Well and cistern plugging
    • Well rehabilitation
  • Work with the local Board of Health on environmental health topics
  • Educate the public on environmental health topics
