Bridge Widening
 

Hardin County's bridge #10401, commonly referred to as the Lawn Hill Bridge, is a 185' long by 24' wide continuous I-beam bridge. It currently is safe for one truck only traffic and the deck is failing. Hardin County will be improving the bridge and let a Reconstuction/Bridge Widening project for bid on September 16th, 2008.  Peterson Contractors, Inc. (PCI) out of Reinbeck, Iowa, was the successful bidder with a contract of  $379,084.68.

PCI started work on Monday, March 16th, 2009. The estimated completion date is early May 2009. The project consists of removing the existing deck, rehabilitating the existing beams and constructing a new deck that is four feet wider than the existing one. New guardrail and approach pavement will also be installed.

On County Highway S55, bridge over the South Fork of the Iowa River, Section 27, T-87N, R-20W. Detour will be State Highway 175 to County Highway S62 to County Highway D55.
